Parent Pro-Tip
Before your child starts a mission, ask them to spend 5 minutes studying the map and explaining their plan out loud to you: 'Which commando will go first? What's the escape route if something goes wrong?'

Representation? How diverse the game's characters are in gender and ethnicity. Higher = more authentic representation. Display only — does not affect time recommendation.
Bechdel Test? The Bechdel Test checks whether a game has at least two named female characters who talk to each other about something other than a man. A simple measure of representation.— Fails the test
The Seductress is the primary (and rare) female character, and there is no meaningful dialogue between two named women in the game.
Parent Pro-Tip
Verbalising a plan before acting strengthens executive function and metacognitive skills — the ability to think about one's own thinking. It also turns a solo gaming session into a brief shared moment and gives you a natural check-in point to agree on how long they'll play.
What your child develops
Commandos 2 is an exceptionally strong workout for higher-order thinking. Every mission is a dense spatial puzzle: players must mentally map large isometric environments, track enemy patrol patterns, synchronise the actions of multiple squad members, and adapt on the fly when plans unravel. This directly exercises problem-solving, spatial awareness, strategic planning, and critical thinking at a level rarely seen in action games — closer to a chess match than a shooter. The squad-based design also rewards careful coordination of complementary roles, giving younger players genuine experience of teamwork and division of labour, even in a single-player context. Because missions are long, demanding, and non-repeating, children who master them carry transferable planning and patience skills into real-world tasks.

About this game
Set during the World War II, this isometric tactic game offers the player to lead an Allied commando squad through a series of secret military operations. The game was inspired by war movies like Bridge on the River Kwai and Saving Private Ryan, and some missions are set at the background of the real events shown in this films, such as the Battle of Normandy.
