GUI Creator [ beta ]
by The Local Maze
"GUI Creator is a single-player sandbox tool inside Roblox that lets players design their own graphical user interfaces, making it closer to a creative coding environment than a traditional game."
What your child develops
What your child develops
This experience is a genuine entry point into UI/UX design and software thinking — children learn how graphical interfaces are structured, experiment with layouts and components, and build something functional from scratch. The creative ceiling is high: every session is an open canvas, and the skills developed (spatial reasoning, design logic, iterative problem-solving) directly mirror real-world programming and design workflows. For kids with an interest in game development or tech, this is one of the most practically educational experiences on Roblox.
What to watch out for
What to watch out for
Because the experience is single-player with a max server size of 1, stranger risk and social toxicity are effectively zero by design. The privacy risk is mild — the description invites players to leave feedback, which could prompt some children to share contact details externally, though this is not built into the experience itself. UGC content risk is minimal but non-zero, as any UI assets or images a child imports are user-generated.
Parent tip
Ask your child to show you a GUI they've built — treat it like a portfolio piece and encourage them to explain what each button or element does. This turns play into a natural conversation about design thinking and even basic coding concepts.

Bottom line first
By default, Roblox allows unfiltered chat and friend requests from strangers. Enable Account Restrictions immediately — it takes 2 minutes and makes the platform significantly safer for children under 13.
Roblox is a platform of 40 million+ user-made games, not a single game. Quality, safety, and age-appropriateness vary dramatically between experiences. The LumiKin ratings above reflect individual experiences — the platform itself does not guarantee safety.
Robux is the in-game currency used across most popular experiences. Many games are designed around Robux spending — pay-to-win mechanics, exclusive cosmetics, and social comparison of avatar items are common. Set a clear spending policy before your child encounters the first purchase prompt.
The chat filter is imperfect. Children regularly find workarounds (number substitutions, deliberate misspellings). Monitor chat history periodically using the Parent PIN tools, and have an open conversation about what to do if someone says something uncomfortable.
Action: Roblox settings → Privacy → Account Restrictions (ON). This restricts chat, friend requests, and game access to a pre-screened age-appropriate set. Set a Parent PIN to prevent your child from disabling it.
